These are just a handful of headlines that started off the first work week of 2010:
- 'Dustin' comic, jobless title character hit close to home
- Jobs may rebound in 2010
- How to get a raise or promotion in 2010
- Americans' job satisfaction falls to record low
To folks who are self-employed, these headlines are just as irrelevant to their personal lives as the weather on the other side of the planet. Yet they make the headlines because the topics of 'j-o-b' rule our society.
People scoff at the welfare system that creates lifetime dependencies on the government and society and we are pissed that our taxes go to support many capable folks who don't pony up to work.
Look at those headlines again. How is this any different?
We live in lands forged by great pioneers who wanted freedom and independence. But we sold out, just over a hundred years ago, and today we pander to anyone who will pay us to be a cog in their machine.
We used to own a trade or land and we worked at it to provide. Then we gave up our independence and handed it over to an employer...to the point it's now a national predicament. The economy goes bad, employers can't afford to employ so many people, they are out of work and can't buy stuff so the government takes our tax money and goes in to dept to 'stimulate' our pocketbooks so we'll spend more...
Holy Smacks!
How is there light at the end of that tunnel?! And to top it off, most people don't even like their work. How did we get here? It's like peasants in slavery to kings...not technically slaves, but it's marginally different.
The only solution is to get off the 'welfare system' of employeedom. To reclaim our independence. To put honor and purpose and freedom back into our waking hours.
