So who am I to be dispensing counsel on successful self-employment and an alternative lifestyle unplugged from the norms of society?
I've been self-employed nearly my entire life and today I run Free Agent Academy (website is here) where we lead a couple hundred people from employees to successfully self-employed with a 'free agent life' as the ultimate goal. You can read some of their testimonials here.
Every week, two blogs go out and two live shows are hosted right here on the topic of free agency. Then I'm the self-employment authority for other media outlets (see them at the bottom of this page).
The majority of my work time however, is spent at our Academy helping people launch successful businesses so they can lead successful (free) lives. I support our professors and jump in as many of the student's discussions as I can. Every Wednesday at 5pm MT I lead a live class for all students where I discuss a topic and have live Q&A. It's my family outside of the walls of my home.
Want to get to know me personally? Catch me at FaceBook, I post a lot of personal pics and updates there, and of course talk about free agency (click the logo):
My background is one of entrepreneurial highs and lows. I'm living the dream today, but was the guy who gave self-employment a bad name. Big risks, going it alone, feast and famine. It nearly cost me my marriage. This Academy is very much my own medicine. It's what I needed then, and need today. I created it to help others.
I was raised in an entrepreneurial whirlwind, thanks to my parents. Many know my Dad, Dan Miller, renowned authority on careers and acclaimed author of '48 Days To The Work You Love' and 'No More Mondays.' I grew up on a steady diet of self-employment and self-improvement. It was a grand day in July 2010 when I was the special guest on the Ziglar Success 2.0 show in Dallas, TX, as Zig Ziglar was my childhood superstar.
Knowing how you're wired, what your passions are, and pursuing them has been my lifetime reality. It led me to being a professional cyclist, getting enmeshed in the dot com goldrush (and crashing and burning), and ultimately finding my home helping others understand their callings, work in them full time and own their work so they can own their lives.
I'm the voice of free agency. The self-employment evangelist and advocate. My core purpose is to speak the message, bring awareness and draw people to the movement, opportunity, reality and responsibility.
My work supports my home, which is made up of my Lover and Wife of 17 years, Teri Miller. She writes beautifully and sagely at FreeAgentMommy.com. She's an authority on being the spouse of an over the top free agent, but she's also a true-blue one herself. Before I met her she was headed to Broadway, singing, acting and dancing. I get more exposure, but she's the talent in the family.
We've got seven kids. Yep, all ours, right from that gorgeous body of Teri's. The last three were born here at our custom, strawbale home high up in the Rocky Mountains. We live amongst towering Aspen trees in Pikes Peak National Forest at 9,300' above sea level. It's our own free agent mecca. If you come to an Academy event, maybe you can stop by.
It's my goal to reach everyone I can with a message of freedom and purpose in their lives, made possible by inspiration and freedom in their work.
