The commodities market is owned by Wal-Mart and none of us are
competing for shelf space there (unless you have a viable new
invention). The rest of us are selling PREMIUM products and services.
People in today's marketplace make their PREMIUM purchases based on two
things:
- An image and story we want to be associated with,
- A person we trust
This is where our focus will be...as your business will live or die based on your ability to achieve those two realities. Period. But doing it, and doing it well, are night and day. Most folks are wasting their time in social media, marketing & list building campaigns and communication efforts at large.
This event is equal presentation and hands-on workshop. Tons of fun, very informal...and intense.
As a group of leaders, we audit well over 100 businesses per month. Based on our experiences and findings...the material at this event is what is most needed. Hands down. Come and get it. We even guarantee the value.
have a working idea or business -
Here is an intro video about the event from me...Kevin...shot 3-31-10 out at camp:
Here are brief videos from some of our event presenters on their sessions, these alone will tell you about all you need to know regarding WHO, WHAT and WHY regarding 'What's In It For Me?!"

JOIN US May 21-23, 2010...at 8,000' up in the glories of the Rocky Mountains to ensure you are doing business the right way in today's marketplace. We're back again at Camp Elim in Woodland Park, CO, location of Free Agent Academy HQ and just 15 gorgeous miles up the pass from Colorado Springs.
If you are new to FAA...every quarter we gather together for non-stop, intense and mind altering time together face to face. A limited group of free agents and key leaders and facilitators. You leave with realistic, definable steps to make real progress in your free agent calling. It's fully proven, the folks who attend these events succeed in their free agent endeavors in a dramatically faster time-line and at an ultimately much greater level of success...than our members who do not.
To get a good flavor of what and FAA event is like, here is a quick video from a recent 'Intensive'. You may recognize some people...like presenters Chuck Bowen (Bowen Coaching), Dan Miller (48 Days), Jon Dale (Dale Interactive) and also Dave Munson (Saddleback Leather Co. 'El Presidente'):
YOUR EVENT INVITATION
This event is specifically for those who have a business idea they are actively working on, or who are current business owners. So to qualify, one of these must define where you are currently:
- BUILD: I know my specific idea and am ready to put the right building blocks in place for a successful launch.
- REFINE: I have everything in place and want to make sure I'm running on all cylinders (maybe you've launched with disappointing results thus far?)
- REVISE: I'm fully in business and want to adjust where necessary for maximum results and growth.
YOUR EVENT FOCUS
This is redundant to what was listed at the top of the page. Why? Cause I want you to hear it. And in the eCommerce world we call it the 'department of redundancy department.' You'll learn more about that at the event.
"Attracting and Selling Your Uniqueness to Your Premium Market" The commodities market is owned by Wal-Mart and none of us are competing for shelf space there (unless you have a viable new invention). The rest of us are selling PREMIUM products and services. People in today's marketplace make their PREMIUM purchases based on two things:
- An image and story we want to be associated with
- A person we trust
YOUR EVENT LOCATION
There is a reason this isn’t being held in a hotel conference room with rows of straight-back chairs. There we can deliver the message, but not an experience. Just as your business must do more than merely deliver the product or service. It must deliver...an experience.
The core of Free Agency is about being inspired and inspiring others. Remember it is the “hills that are alive with music,” not the gridlock. We intentionally *chose a place that will awaken your soul and inspire you. Fly in to Denver or Colorado Springs, carpool with other attendees and tool up the beautiful pass by Pikes Peak and meet us in the woods.
*Woodland Park is of course home to Free Agent Academy and Kevin Miller!
Camp Elim is a camp and lodge just 7-miles outside of Woodland Park, CO...and sits at 8,000’ above sea level. It’s pure mountain style...natural wood and fireplaces and rustic beauty. Crisp air and blue skies and in March...could be t-shirt weather or a blizzard. Either way it will take your breath away and invigorate your spirit.
YOUR EVENT PRESENTERS
In this event we’ve gathered five top talents for helping people DISCOVER themselves, plus two Special Guest Experts:
Chuck left the corporate start up world where he served as a
high paid, hired gun in the telecom industry. He made lots of money doing
things he...didn’t care much about. So he audited some top coaches and started
his own coaching practice in San Antonio, TX. ‘Chuck Bowen Coaching’ grew to be one of the most prolific finance, career
and business coaching businesses in the country. He served as head coach trainer
to Dave Ramsey’s financial coaches and Dan Miller’s career coaches. Chuck is
flat-out the most competent business coach I’ve ever experienced, bar none.
Which is why he leads FAA with me and serves as my personal business coach as
well.
Similar to Chuck, Justin left a lucrative career as an
airline pilot to pursue what he cared about. In record time he also built an
immensely successful coaching business where today he specializes in coaching
coaches (Lukas Coaching) and is the host of a popular Coach Radio. That’s where his heart is, though he is again...one of the best
business coaches I’ve encountered. He’s mastered social media and
technology
tools to a great degree that has garnered a large and loyal audience
that he
leads. He’s authored a book on coaching, has developed multiple
information products and is a frequent speaker on coaching and
business.
Pierce Marrs is a lifetime sales professional who has now turned his attentions to solopreneurs and entrepreneurs in helping them learn the lost art of personal sales skills. He's founder and President of Marrs Coaching http://www.marrscoaching.com
As self-employment is on the rise, most people stumble when it comes to personal sales skills. Sales is sales is sales, whether face to face or online. The same qualities transfer.
We at FAA and many of our business leaders have harnessed Pierce to bring back the lost art and necessity...of selling
Jimi is a branding, advertising and marketing thoroughbred who has spent 20+ years developing and supporting Fortune 500 brand identities in all platforms of media. He is currently creative director for an international ad agency that has 82 offices worldwide. In the last three years, He has won over fifteen national awards for ad campaigns. Jimi is also a corporate entertainer and has performed across the U.S. and Canada including the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Jimi has a variety of products that he sells in conjunction with his presentations and is currently finishing his first book. His passion for helping individuals and corporations discover their true brand is linked through his consulting services, live performances, workshops, products and hands-on branding implementation by actually crafting the parts and pieces of a brand expression.
Andy is a true-blue tech junkie and expert. That in and of itself is not unique. Him being a fellow entrepreneur who understands building a business and the realities of marketing, time management and customer service sets him far, far apart. This is why we harness him. He distinctly specializes in helping businesses and non-profits use web based tools to grow their brand. Many hear him on the 'Business Tech Weekly' podcast dispensing wise counsel. To see all he does, simply type in 'Andy Traub' into any search engine and you'll see that he fully practices what he preaches.
I have no corporate background. I’m the scrappy entrepreneur who knows nothing different. I grew up in a self-employed family and have started, failed and succeeded with a boatload of businesses. I’m the special agent of self-employment who has seen it all (or at least most of it!) and doesn’t pull any punches in helping make sure we have you with a viable idea. I’m your host, facilitator and advocate at the event. My core focus is to make sure you are fully tuned in and getting served. I’m also the barista and sommelier. You can read more about me on the About page, though I'm assuming you're familiar with me...or you wouldn't be here in the first place.
YOUR EVENT GUARANTEE
There is a fee for the event of course, and it comes with a money back guarantee. No joke, no gimmick. The event will end and you will return home. If you do not feel you got value out of the event relative to the attendance fee, you have a week to tell us what it was worth to you. We’ll refund the difference. That’s it, as literal as can be. This is the guarantee I wish all businesses would have...put their money where their mouths are. It’s what we’ll counsel you to do in your business.
*Wondering about the acceptance from your Spouse? Watch this together: “Marital Unity & The Pursuit of Free Agency” before you register. If you are married, this will help cover some of the common issues.
YOUR EVENT SCHWAG
A tradition for our Intensive events is the ceremonial giving away of a Saddleback Leather bag. Dave Munson...owner of Saddleback, is a rock star free agent. He's built a successful business out of passion, integrity and a servant's heart. Our very own Chuck Bowen is a kingpin in Dave's company and they co-own TrueBlue Production Studios in Mexico.
This event, we're giving away more than one bag; A laptop bag and a couple pouches (pictured below) and a few surprise Saddleback products.
That's not all. A new tradition has started in the past two events with custom Fern Canyon soap from member Brett Traudt. And of course the infamous home roasted coffee... Everyone walks away with a treat, cause schwag rules.
YOUR EVENT SCHEDULE
This is event menu...it's what is important in you deciding this is something you must attend:

1:15 Why We're All Here
Weekend overview, indoctrination and expectations from event hosts Kevin Miller and Chuck Bowen
An intro to all attendees
Professor Roundtable: Kevin, Chuck, Justin, Jimi
Why this discrepancy and the realities it delivers are rapidly changing the face, responsibility and opportunity of business today...and how you can and must take advantage of it
- The shift that's happened, why and what you must do
- Image and story creation for your business
- Building relationship and trust with your audience
- Where and when conversion happens
- Your brand is not your name.
- Your brand is not your tagline.
- Your brand is not your logo and colors and headshot.
Would people know your spouse if you merely presented a picture and name badge instead of the person in the flesh?
If you think you've nailed your brand, we'll strip you down and show you how you're brand at best, is an infant. And it's why your efforts in your business are taking two steps forward and one (or more) steps back.
Branding is the most misunderstood term and drastically neglected aspect in the business world today. Jimi will demystify the topic in a big way as he and Kevin work directly with you to prescribe correct applications in your business.
- What really is a brand?
- Why do I need it?
- How can I get one?
5:00 Brand Session 2: Crafted & Launched

9:30 Now You Exist - Tech & Web
Professor: Andy Traub
Your brand is only as good as it's location. Your business exists at your storefront, and in today's marketplace, even with a brick & mortar business, your store is online.
So where, and how and in what fashion? If you've got a website and online presence, this will reveal where you are missing it, and how to fill in. If you're at the beginning, this will start you off on the right foot in big way.
Andy Traub knows tech AND business. That's what makes him unique. He'll cover:
- Logos and themes relevant to your brand
- Website platforms including blogging and membership sites
- Website flow and design
- eCommerce tools, the backend stuff that is your primary sales person
- Podcasting and Videocasting
- Making sense of the myriad of tools that make it all possible

Professor: Pierce Marrs
Everyone in business today would like to think folks will come into their store, make a purchase and be happy. And they...won't have to sell. You MUST be able to sell. The good news is that Pierce's forte is helping you 'Sell from within your comfort zone.'
- Who are you going to have to effectively sell to?

- What is your best intentional selling style?
- What will your selling process be?

11:00 Official end
- For
non-coaching day attendees
Coaching is a noble profession. And when done well...very profitable and immensely fulfilling. Justin Lukasavige and Chuck Bowen have coached more coaches to success than possibly anyone else. They've both served as lead coaches to Dave Ramsey and Dan Miller.
More importantly, they've both started from scratch and build prolific and very profitable coaching businesses themselves. This is not professors teaching theory in a university. This is guys who have done it and done it well telling you how it really works.
This day will be a very focused and intentional workshop on the coaching profession and the business...of coaching. If you want fluff...as David Garland says...go pet a bunny.
May 23, Sunday EXTRA:
9:30 Coach Session 1 – Standing Out
Professors: Justin & Jimi
How to stand out in a sea of other coaches. You already got schooled in branding, but this is coach specific.
10:30 Coach Session 2 - Selling Yourself
Professors: Justin, Pierce, Chuck
It's one thing to sell a 'thing.' It's another to be solely selling yourself. Pierce is incredible here, and Justin has personally hired Pierce to train his coaches.
You'll end this session not only understanding how to sell yourself in your business...but literally how to 'Win Friends & Influence People' to cite the book title.
12:00 Coach Session 3 - Nuts & Bolts
Justin & Chuck
- Intro consultations
- Pricing and fee schedule
- Conducting consultations
- Managing client interactions
10:30 Coach Session 4 – Tools & Resources
Professors: Justin Lukasavige & Chuck Bowen
- A
doctor knows the tools and materials and resources necessary to practice
medicine.
- As a
coach, what must you have?
1:00 Scrumptious Buffet Lunch
Chef: Karen Padgett and her staff deliver the best gourmet camp food you've ever had.
Featuring...food.
1:45 Coach Session 5 – Multiple Streams of Coaching Income
Professors: Justin and Chuck
You start with face to face coaching, or remote via phone. But it's time for money and has a plateau. Working up to $300 per hour is great, if you bill that many hours. So what can you do to create additional revenue, especially SWIS dollars (sales while I sleep)?
Chuck and Justin have both done this, but in different ways, so you get to benefit from a bevy of options.
- Physical products
- eProducts
- Teleseminars
- Client partnerships
- Speaking engagements
3:00 Coach Session 6 - You
Professors: Chuck, Kevin, Justin
We'll break up into groups according to coaching focus and take time with each of you on specific areas of clarity needed.
5:00 Coach Session 7 – Planning
Professors: Chuck
“If we can plan it out on paper, we can make it happen in real life,” says Chuck Bowen. And...he’s proven it with a legion of coaches.
- Chuck will work through his ‘Simple Strategic Plan’ and Financial Forecast with you, but specifically for the coaching business.
6:00 Celebratory Buffet Dinner
Chef: Karen Padgett and her staff deliver the best gourmet camp food you've ever had.
Featuring fine Colorado Wine
7:00 Commune, Network, Laugh & Share
Often the most benefit comes from these times and connections, so we'll maximize it here, over a fire and beverage.
8:00 Bonfire
YOUR EVENT LODGING
There is limited lodging at the camp and historically 95% of our attendees stay on site. It's cozy, mountain rustic, cheaper than a hotel...and right with us so you can talk till late and walk with us early. Part of being a start-up free agent is making some luxury sacrifices. Thus it’s not a four star hotel. But it’s nice and cozy and very...Rocky Mountain style.
If you come with a spouse you get a room to yourself, otherwise you’ll be sharing a room. If you are a light sleeper, bring a little fan for your room or grab some ear plugs. If you want a room to yourself, a quick and gorgeous 7-mile drive in to Woodland Park will bring you to the Woodland Country Lodge which is a nice hotel with rooms at $80 per night: Website http://www.woodlandcountrylodge.com
Dining Hall Bunk $30 per night – 40 available
These are a series of rooms with eight or so military style bunks in a rustic log cabin style room. Nothing fancy at all, one big shared bathroom. Linens are provided. Men on one side of the building, women on the other.
These are nice, all natural wood rooms with three aspen log bunks and a private bathroom. 3 people per room. It’s got thin walls...I recommend ear plugs or bring a small fan or noise maker.
Duplex Cabin $55 per person – 6 available, 2 per room
These are really nice, log cabins. A queen bed and aspen log bunk. If you sign up to bring your spouse, please register for the Summit Lodge Bunk and we’ll automatically upgrade you to one of these cabins while they are available.
RV or 5th Wheel - If you’d like this option, email us and we’ll give you details on securing a pad with all hookups.

3 written testimonials from the recent March 12-14, 2010 'Intensive Event' Richard Palmer-Smith / Boulder, CO
- 17 year free agent with his own construction business...looking for more
"I think I am like many here who sat back for a while and tested the
waters before jumping in. I cannot be happier that I finally made the
move. I could talk for hours about the breadth of knowledge among the
professors, the depth of passion within the group, or the height that
many here experience everyday because of the input they get at FAA.
To me though, the real value is the quality of people I am sharing this
experience with. They are not just a bunch of cheerleaders, though
encouragement abounds. They are a community of wildly varying
individuals who take the time to hear you out, listen to your idea, get
to know your heart, and contribute in the most constructive and
supportive way they can. To those of us who face all the fears and
anxieties of starting something new, this is sheer gold.
The Intensive events are run by and attended by people who want to
contribute. Once again, it is the people who you meet who make the
difference. I am so glad I went to my first event. I am friends with
everyone I met there and have met several of them outside of the FAA
forum. We genuinely care about each other and try to understand each
other so that we can help move forward to our goals. If you have any
doubts that it is worth the expense, don't. I would pay as much again to
go through and repeat getting to know such quality people. Jump in, I
promise you won't regret it!"
Dan Williams Stevenson Ranch, CA
- Associate Professor of Organizational Leadership at Biola
University
- Founder of 'Your Life Matters'
"The setting was tremendous in every way. An excellent backdrop to
thinking, idealizing, and brainstorming. The FAA staff were insightful,
caring, and displayed much wisdom in guiding the group through the
process. I left with a sense of community, momentum, and clarity.
I would recommend this event to any and all who have something inside
that is not precise or flowing in the means you desire."
Tammy Stanford / Waco, TX - Single, employed Mom transitioning to being and independent contractor
"Although there is such a connection and camaraderie in FAA, all of that
is intensified 100 times at an event. It's such a positive atmosphere -
not in a Pollyanna kind of way, but in a sincere
we'll-tell-you-when-you're-messing-up-without-slamming-you kind of way.
All the professors are excellent; they have both the skills and the
passion to help you succeed. The Idea Discovery Camp was set up with all
the perfect elements to draw people out and set them up for the next
steps. I don't think anyone went home empty handed.
You not only share your time but a piece of your soul in this safe,
supportive atmosphere. It is an experience you'll never forget."
